The Altech NuPay Annual Charity Golf Day at the Pecanwood Golf and Country Club has become an event that is eagerly anticipated by loyal patrons and new merchants alike. Altech NuPay once again had the pleasure of hosting a full field of golfers on the 20th of May. The golfers arrived at Pecanwood on a chilly autumn morning, but the cold was soon forgotten when old friends were seen again. A warm breakfast and a competitive game of sports trivia soon had everyone forget about the nip in the air and provided the much needed stamina for the gruelling day of golf ahead.

This being a Charity Golf Day, organizers decided to provide multiple activities and auction items for patrons to participate in and bid on. One of the main events was the “Get in the Game Sports trivia” where attendees could roll the dice and answer some “easy” sports questions to qualify for an entry form into our main draw of R 3000 later that evening. Attendees seemed to enjoy it immensely and quite a few people had to “phone a friend” (in the form of Google) to help them get the right answers. Nothing warms the heart more than people opening their hearts and their wallets for those less fortunate than themselves. Never before have we experienced it more than this year. Numerous prizes were donated to be auctioned off on top of all the other forms of sponsorships received. Donated prizes included break-away weekends at top hotels, golf excursions to prestigious golf estates and even some perfume for the ladies.

Altech NuPay decided to again support the Abraham Kriel Childcare Centre, Alberton SPCA as well as the South Africa Guide Dog Association. Altech NuPay has been involved with all three charities for a number of years, especially the Abraham Kriel Childcare Centre.

The attendees also had the pleasure to meet one of the young people from the Abraham Kriel Childcare Centre. This is the first year we had a young lady joining us, and what a wonderful experience that was. Mariska is a Grade 10 pupil at Linden High School and dreams about becoming a model and fashion designer once she finishes her school career. This soft-spoken young lady has a iron will and made it very clear to all present that she, and the other children at Abraham Kriel, do not see themselves as victims but as survivors that have been given the unique opportunity to take their challenges and rise above them. It was truly a humbling experience to once again be in the presence of such a determined young person.

After a successful day on the course everyone gathered in the clubhouse for a few drinks, a hot meal and more trivia…

We decided to take our memories of the day to whole new level this year and asked Corporate Golfers Magazine to provide us with an online magazine that all participants can go and read at their leisure online. The link to the completed magazine will be sent out soon…

Through everyone’s participation and contributions we raised over R 200 000.00. All funds raised will be donated to the Abraham Kriel Kindersorg / Child Care, the Alberton SPCA & the Guide Dog Assoc. of SA.

Making a difference in our community has always been a passion and priority for Altech NuPay. With the continued support we have received over the past 11 years, we have been able to make a sustainable difference in the lives of the over 600 children currently living at the Abraham Kriel Kindersorg/Children’s Home, assist the Alberton SPCA in their continued plight in the prevention of cruelty to animals as well as the assistance in training young puppies to become guide dogs and change the lives of those who do not have the benefit of sight.

Thank you for making the Altech NuPay Annual Golf Day a roaring success once again!

Altech NuPay would like to thank all the personnel at the Pecanwood Golf and Country Club for their assistance on the day in helping to set-up, tallying scores and making sure everything ran smooth on the course.

We hope to see all patrons again next year!
