Altech NuPay giving back to the community

Altech NuPay hosted our Annual Charity Golf day on the 12th of May 2015. The main focus of this annual Golf day has always been to raise funds for the charitable organizations we have selected (plus it’s an excellent opportunity to spend a day in the great outdoors with colleagues and friends).

Altech NuPay have formed lasting relationships with various organizations over the years and felt that they wanted to support the following organisations again:

The Abraham Kriel Childcare Centre
Abraham Kriel Childcare (AKC) provides childcare in the greater Johannesburg and East Rand in Gauteng. Their passion is to ensure the optimal development of traumatised children in need of care.

AKC provides both residential care and community services and focuses on providing shelter, care and rehabilitation for children between the ages of birth and 18 years old, who have been subjected to trauma, abuse, molestation, poverty and neglect.

Currently AKC operates 21 (incl. baby unit) houses for children and carries out 6 community care programs that provide food, shelter, pastoral care, remedial care, social services, skills development services and early childhood development. As a result of each and every Golf day patron, Altech NuPay was able to present them with a cheque for R70 379.84.

Alberton SPCA

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – SPCA ‘for short’ – aims to protect all animals from cruelty, neglect and ill treatment that often results from ignorance of animals and their needs.

When they say 'all' animals, that is exactly what they mean – from pet dogs, cats and rabbits to farm animals, poultry and even wildlife. They will be able to continue the excellent work they do with the R30 000 presented to them.

South African Guide Dog Association

The Association is the only organisation involved in this field in South Africa (as well as the only one of its kind in Africa) being responsible for all aspects and quality control of guide dog services. The actual training of a Guide dog is around 6 months but S.A.G.A. is responsible for the puppy from the moment it is born. Formal guide dog training can only commence at around 12 - 18 months, depending on the breed. Therefore the entire training process can take an average of 18 months. Corporate as well as individual donors are asked to make a contribution of R10 000 as a "sponsorship" towards the cost of training a single guide dog although the actual costs are closer to R58 000. A puppy can be sponsored for R3 500. Altech NuPay was able to contribute an amount of R30 000 to this worthy cause.

Altech NuPay’s management team would like to thank all representatives from the various charities for taking time out of their busy schedules to join us for the presentation ceremony.

Mahatma Gandhi once said that wealth is not measured by what you own, but by what you give back to those around you.

May this serve as inspiration to each and every one of us going forward.
